WhatsApp is an application that allows users to text, call, or video call just like on an Apple iPhone. It also allows for larger files to be sent without having to change the size such as videos. Every training session that I do with Timber is recorded so that Chad and I can go back and evaluate how she is progressing or what might need more attention. So, being able to send the videos without having to cut it in multiple spots is great because it takes less time and no interruptions. Another feature that I found to be helpful is the video chat. When I run into a training problem or Timber just does not want to perform in a certain manner, I can call Chad with video and show him directly what it is she is doing. This allows for immediate feedback as well as instruction in correcting that behavior. This specific feature has also been helpful in showing prospective client’s what type of training our kennel can provide. Clients will reach out stating that they may have a problem with the house dog or even working dog and video is the closest way to having the on the spot feel for what the dog is doing. WhatsApp has helped with communicating with overseas breeders as well since it allows for international calling, we can set up meeting times and see the mom and dad of the litter we are thinking of purchasing from. This also plays true to the same scenario in the states because we would like to have eyes on the dogs prior to making the commitment to drive cross country to test the demeanor of the puppies just to have no idea what they are like. In the end, WhatsApp saves us time and money by allowing us to send videos to one another, video call, and text weather is be overseas or right here in the United States. If you have not tried using the app, I highly suggest giving it a chance, it is free so there is nothing to lose there. I hope you enjoyed this weeks post and look forward to next week.
